Alizée store continued...

Doing a little Alizée Store marketing and taking orders...

Alizée, so far...
Sean in the previous post expressed interest in a signed photograph

from Twitter
@RondasX and @Chris_la_Corse were all over the XL version T-Shirts...

Between you and me Alizée, they seemed to think that it was the size of the T-shirt that they...ah, er... required...that mattered... I didn't have the heart to tell them otherwise... but let's just keep that between us.

So there you go, if you build it, they will come.

The new Alizée store...

The new Alizée store...
I wonder what will it have. What would you like to see?
More clothing, t-shirts? Collector discs? What?
Alizée designed Nike's?
Signed pictures?

What would you buy?

I would buy.... a red string bracelet, sold or endorsed or designed or made by you... Alizée...
Should also do some self designed jewelry too by the way.
But the bracelet, absolutely, positively... you know what I'm talking about, help me out soul sister. No jokes, I would trust you.

Alizée hard at work

Alizée hard at work
back soon with new stuff designed by Alizée for the first time…

This is like one of those optical illusions where they as "what do you see"
computer screen
hairstyle
sweater
necklace
white mouse
only fingers sticking out sweater on a cold winter day
frankly I wear a fingerless glove on my mouse hand
the in swing window with the exterior wrought iron railing for what I would guess is second or third floor

With this wonderful and surprising communication you can take as long as needed and no one can complain.

It's amazing what results a little communication can get for you...

OK OK OK OK OK..... I tried... now the part is on the left side!!!! or are you just screwing with my head soul sister

Do you find yourself just staring at it? Is it as innocent as it looks?
There was once a hidden egg, should I be figuring out a password that leads to an inner sanctum. Remember when one of the old websites had hidden areas to reveal more.
Could this be a connection to the Alizée Fortress of Solitude?

'Twas two days before Christmas

'Twas two nights before Christmas and all through the house,
not a present was wrapped, not even the cat's mouse.
The stockings were hung on the staircase with care,
In hopes that something from Alizée would find its way there.

Alizée on iTunes while we crawl into bed
While visions of J'en Ai Marre danced in our heads
Papa Jo with his camera snaps another great shot,
black & white or color, it just matters not.

When over from my desk there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the computer I flew like a flash,
An update? a post? lets clear up some cache

Vimeo and YouTube a Tumblr post too
A Facebook posting, it's gotta be something new
A new Christmas song has suddenly appeared
Friends from Institubes and lots of scruffy beards

With a talented leader, so lively and quick,
Tahiti Boy, really? could he be St Nick?
With his instructions and pointing they went and they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Teki! now, Surkin! now, Loane and Mike Ladd!
On, Tacteel! On, Bobmo! on Alizée... not bad
From the top, get it right, we're having a ball
Now sing away! sing away! sing away all!

Pigeon toed look

It's the holidays... my ramblings maybe all over the place :)

Is the pigeon toed model look being done to death! Every time I see someone striking a pose it is the pigeon toed look or the 'flirty feet' innocent look.

Flash back to 2003 we had Alizée on the cover of Mes Courants Électriques

I am slightly pigeon toed so it is something I always notice, pigeon toed or duck feet.

But have we seen enough? It's ALL over the place now.

Even Papa Jacotey loves the look...but you have look pretty hard to find those photos right now... and I wouldn't republish them any way. (unless he sent me one of course)

Oh, don't even go there and give me that look soul sister, I have to find something to fill in the holidays!

You just get the store back on line and I'll keep everyone distracted. You do know that today is 14 days from the 7th, the time the store was supposed to be down, but hey, who's counting. OK, OK, you're right, NOW I DO deserve the LOOK. :) :) :)

Alizée... in the studio

I just can't keep it in any longer, I am bursting, I just have to shout it out....
RIGHT SIDE PART!

Whew... so glad that's over with, I was trying to give a little time for the new Christmas song to settle in.

Now I can relax... what? the latest hair style, the part, it's on the right side.
Remember the post regarding left side parts...

It was cold and snowy all across Europe when this song was recorded. Most of the guys are in thier jeans, shirts plus sweaters or pull overs...something warm... and there is Alizée... a tee type top and 'Psych' era shorts... shorts and a tee...
I admit it, I'm too wimpy to be a girl!

getting ready....

This is "our" Christmas Eve. Tomorrow we get a present, we get to see Alizée in the new Christmas song that is spearheaded by Tahiti Boy. We are all antsy like little kids, maybe some will not even sleep tonight.

It's not often we know something is going to happen, basically we know its a short part in a new Christmas song and we know what day it is going to happen. Unusual for "us", we don't know how to act.

Now isn't that silly... all this for a 10 second shot. But it's true. There will be tweets and facebook posts and blogs and forum posts and and and... all for a glimpse of Alizée.

I plead 'no contest' ... it's true, and it's our own little phenomena, the rest of the world somehow does not see it. Once you have been given "Alizée eyes" you see it and can't figure out how you never saw it before and how all your friends don't see it.

If the song is shared via YouTube, Alizée fans will just dominate the comments. Yes even though there are 15 other artist involved. This is not a prediction... it's now just a fact. I hope everyone knows that by now. Seriously, the conversation around the Institubes water cooler should go something like this... Tahiti Boy is going to post that new Christmas song and Alizée fans are going to drive us all nuts.

This will be fun, I am looking forward to it all.
Just think if Alizée did a Chirstmas song and posted it on YouTube.... and visions of sugar plums danced in my head...

talk to you all on the other side...

Alizée - The Far Side of the Moon

Alizée - The Far Side of the Moon
December 7th is almost here... the start of the two week closure of Alizee Store.

Will this also mean to not expect any Alizée news? Can we just relax and enjoy the holidays? Is it "holiday" all around?

We don't know. Last year we were pleasantly surprised by "It's Christmas but it won't be the last" So you never know.

Or is this another trip to the far side of the moon?

Tidal forces between Earth and the Moon have slowed the moon's rotation so that the same side is always facing the Earth. The other face, which is never visible from the Earth in its entirety (18% of it can be seen under some conditions), is therefore called the "far side of the Moon". (wikipedia)

Alizée earth observatories can only monitor for the return.
As with any object that visits the Far Side, there is no contact. Be it any of the Apollo missions or Alizée we must wait patiently for their return to re-establish contact.

The moon, along with Alizée, their far sides have never been explored, although there have been some pictures.

Alizée earth monitoring stations are preparing for this step of the process and that is for Alizee Store to lose contact December 7.

Keep in mind we have not established if this is indeed the beginning of a far side trip. Perhaps only maintenance or a revamping for more.

We can only suggest Alizée earth monitoring stations stay on alert.

Alizée... the contrarian

Alizée... the contrarian
Sure, kind of like Conan... the barbarian, why not.

Contrarian thinkers test boundaries and challenge the status quo. They are risk takers.

Alizée has always railed against conventional wisdon.
Being young she "played" the lolita role.
Being a sensation she dropped out of site, married and had a daughter.
Coming back she discontinued her affiliation with Mylene and friends.
The public looking for lolita part II came the real Alizée.
Looking for pop came electro
When information is expected it doesn't come, out of nowhere information shows.
Alizee Store opens out of nowhere, it closes for Christmas...

You get the picture.

After all these years... it's part of her charm! It IS Alizée.

Contrarian: somebody disposed to taking opposite position: a habitual opponent of accepted policies, opinions, or practices

So based on that... I advise you to not tweet me or email me. Conventional wisdom says it would not be a good idea. So I repeat... do not tweet or email me.

Alizée - why is that...

Alizée - why is it...

Last night in the back ground a local band was playing... they had a female singer and about every other song I thought... that would be fun to hear Alizée sing that song.

Why is that... I always think of songs I would like to hear Alizée sing? Do you do that? I don't do that with other singers / entertainers.

I listen to Kavinsky's "Night Call" and think I would like to hear Alizée sing that. A sick obsession of mine is to hear Alizée sing "Tom's Diner". I listen to Goom Radio Limelight just to hear Alizée talk to me, to hear her voice... just talking.

Come on, be truthful, you all go to 1:50 on "It's Christmas (And It Won't Be The Last)" Just to hear that voice... don't you?

Do you do that with Lady Gaga, Katy, Kesha? ...I would really like to hear them sing this song or that or hear them talk... no not really.

But Alizée... we go out of our way to just hear her talk in an interview and I we always are coming up with songs we would like to hear her sing.

I think... I take Alizée right out of those Alimart pictures or even the DJ pictures, take a simple song where we can hear her voice and throw her on Letterman... interview her for 3 minutes... promotion done! Americans would not get enough. Sometimes I think it gets a little too Parisian.

Her voice... hypnotizing, mesmerizing, sexifying... that's the product plus we love the look.

Let's say a song lasts 3 minutes. Itunes sells it for 99 cents. Now let's say there is an interview, an English speaking interview for example that is 3 minutes long and Itunes is selling the interview for 99 cents. Would you think about buying it??? If so why? I thought it was about the music? I would think about it.

Speaking of products... Alizee Store is shutting down for 2 weeks, starting December 7. Sorry I can't help myself... numbers and semantics. Dec 7 add 14 days = December 21. Will the store open up the 21st? was it just a round figure and mean sometime after the holidays? If so why wasn't it just said that way. If it does open back up right before Christmas... why would that be? Again I am sorry my mind works that way, but I am a great conspiracy theorist person...

Les Collines and 2011

Can we talk?

Here we are... December 2010.
Last year we were surprised by the participation in the Christmas song. Oh and by the way that was a nice gift. So unusual for it to be YouTube only, free...
That was nice, thank you.

But let's look at Les Collines...
So Charts in France has selected 15 videos that have buzzed past twelve months. They labeled Les Enfoires #7.
Getting listed with Amel Bent at #15 is not to shabby either.
Charts in France

There appears to be a second wind developing for Les Collines. Perhaps an award nomination... and don't forget... there is still The Teenagers remix waiting to be released. Maybe that is why that never was released. It could be part of "Operation Second Wind" or "Deuxième Opération alizé" ... is that even close?

Let's then throw in a new song and there you have it, busy for the first half of 2011.

OK, now what... I set up Alizée's 2011 career, hmmm Jo? Need some help?
If it were only that easy.

There is never a lot of random going on with Alizée, so the November 21 release date, according to Wikipedia???? Any significance??? I wonder :) or just a coincidence or just an inaccurate date. Just a thought, that's all.

Genthe then used his standard studio camera to make what has since become a classic picture of Jack London. Alizée heading into the Holidays

We are heading straight into the Holiday Season here in the United States. 6 Days away is Thanksgiving Day. I have been requested to bake desert for a Thanksgiving dinner, items not familiar here. Sure, I will be attending and supplying some of the dessert dishes. Not all the "real" ingredients are available here but I can make do. Today when I arrived home there was a box... from big sister. I was asked to supply dessert in July and I must have mentioned it to my sister and she sent me the "real" ingredients, 2,000 miles away and just in time... big sisters... but this jar of powdered peanut butter, that's out of the blue and sure is interesting...

The Friday after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday. The biggest shopping day of the year. I wonder if Alimart will take advantage of the season? www.alizeestore.com
Have you ever googled 'Alizee Store' :/ how was I to know that you were going to open an Alizee Store soul sister? Yeah those top two are mine, it was a long time ago and I... well I guess it doesn't matter. I can just redirect everything back to your store. Let me know.

In case anyone was wondering, my next email or tweet from Alizée will be my first. Really. For some reason some just don't seem to believe that, but it's true. So to get those wanting autographs and such... try the record label.

But I'll tell you what. If I get a tweet or email, even just a smiley face tweet, I'll get an Alizée tattoo. That's how confident I am that it can never happen. Oh and don't forget that would mean she would probably have to be aware of this post... there is better chance of me containing some anti-matter in my microwave.

So with the Holidays approaching I suspect things to be... quite?
With all the posts Jo does on Facebook perhaps I should switch over and do "Jo Nation", ohhhh..... Just fooling around... We don't know much about the Jacotey's but I suspect from the small glimpses we see I think they have a great sense of humor. For the longest time Jo hid from or hid behind his camera. He always toyed with us from behind the lens. His latest photo with the wayfarers is great, a playful look, not over serious... love it. Alizée's timing and humor at times reminds me of Cher. Alizée plays the straight part extremely well, the way Cher used to do it. I guess that maybe the first time Alizée and Cher were in a sentence together. But seriously Alizée plays the straight part in a humorous situation very well, like Dean Martin was for Jerry Lewis, Cher to Sonny. Remember the Mexican soap opera, or the Moi Lolita version with Elie Semoun

We just get Jeremy a vest and a wig and we're set!! I'm a genius...

Well there you have it soul sister. I'm finished stirring up trouble for right now. Enjoy your weekend, I know it's kind of a special one, I hope work does not interfere.

Alizée - the game of Risk

Alizée - the game of Risk

You know, the board game, Risk, where you take over the world.

You are Alizée, you have taken over Mexico and it is time to make a new move. Greater Europe you are already an influence, United States and Canada you are not ready to make that commitment. So where do you make your next move on the Risk board.

Based on what little evidence I have... it's India or perhaps Peru...

Did you know...
"Risk was invented by French film director Albert Lamorisse and originally released in 1957, as La Conquête du Monde ("The Conquest of the World"), in France. Risk is a turn-based game for two to six players. The standard version is played on a board depicting a political map of the Earth, divided into forty-two territories, which are grouped into six continents. The primary object of the game is "world domination," or "to occupy every territory on the board" - Wikipedia

Then there is Risk the risk management software. @RISK performs risk analysis using Monte Carlo simulation to show you many possible outcomes in your Microsoft Excel spreadsheet—and tells you how likely they are to occur.

Hmmm, they do not have the entertainment version... sure would be nice. Just punch in... UEDS and some options with it and ... Voila!

If it were only that simple... perhaps... hmmm

Alizée... I wonder what you're up to...

Alizée... I wonder what you're up to...

Sitting in traffic tonight that question crossed my mind. Maybe she is doing what all parents of 5 to 12 year olds are doing... running her ass off taking her daughter from one thing to another.

What do young Parisian parents do with their children? Karate lessons? Art lessons? Music? Soccer leagues? Computer classes... besides the usual pre school.

That is the age when the kids take over their parents lives... the parents become chauffeurs.

I wonder...

Alizée and the rest of 2010

6 weeks until Christmas... should we expect anything between now and then? Nothing happens fast in Alizée World. Should we expect anything, an appearance, a tweet? Oh yeah, Alizée will be giving a thought to tweet this week, don't know if she knows it yet, we'll see. Moving on...

If you recall Alizée tweeting in the Spring of 2009 about recording the songs for UEDS and that did not get released until March 2010.

Alizée Superfans

Wow, I just read an article "Bands As A Business: Invest Money In Marketing" on Hypebot.com. This is second part of an interview segment with Paige X. Cho, who is the Administration and Promotions Manager for digital distributor Valleyarm and author of the Melbourne music blog Paper-Deer. In this part, Cho talks about the importance of bands thinking of themselves as a business, how pop suffers the most from file sharing, and the shutdown of LimeWire.

Now that is out of the way.

The very first question regarding "superfans" you would think it was written about Alizée:

Could you describe the relationship between superfans and the artists?

Cho: The term "superfan" reminds me of Mel from Flight of the Conchords - sometimes a little creepy, borderline stalker behavior but all done with good intentions. Like John Roderick writes, these are the obsessive fans that have a lot invested in bands and feel that their over-the-top and unsolicited help means that they should be friends with the band and get thanked on stage or first dibs on anything. I've even known a superfan who weirdly knew the shampoo her favorite singer used!

The problem with these fans is they aren't happy with just getting newsletters or buying autographed merch. They feel they deserve more, and the problem is that these fans get offended very easily. If you walk by them outside a venue without hearing them go "hi" or you don't personally reply to their emails, they seem to get upset and could possibly "turn" against you.

How often have we seen that happen...
Or are you an "IF" fan.... I am a fan "if" she does this or "if" she does that.

Alizee Nation autointerview

The AutoInterviw (self interview)
I really did not think there was enough information for an autobiography but an autointerview….sure.

Alizee Nation Question: How long have you been doing the blog?

Alizee Nation Answer: Coming up on 3 years

AN Question: And how did it come about?

AN Answer: There were several “projects” going on and I thought why not do a blog on Alizee too! Then it just kept going.

AN Question: When did you first notice Alizee

AN Answer: I don’t remember exactly, the early days of À Contre-Courant, then L’Alize and that smile. But what really hooked me was the interview Alizee walked out on. That’s when I said, I like her. That’s when it became more then the look, more then the song, it was the personality.

AN Question: Do you know Alizee?

AN Answer: (looking annoyed)

AN Question: What?

AN Answer: That’s a ridiculous question, don’t make me walk out…

AN Question: Moving on, do you think Alizee reads the blog?

AN Answer: No, not at all. Aware…maybe, but read it? She has better things to do.

AN Question: What do you think of all the new blogs and sites?

AN Answer: I think it’s great. Fans get to be creative, it’s more publicity for Alizee. Why not. I would encourage anyone to try their hand at it. As a matter of fact I just shared some words yesterday with Alizee South Africa. I suggested posting something, don’t make me kick your ass. Look, a fun post. It’s fun to encourage and nurture each other.

AN Question: What do you hope for next?

AN Answer: I got out of the “Alizee should” business.
If Alizee did what we wanted it would be like going to the zoo or circus to see animals perform. I prefer to see them in their wild state… like Alizee. I hope that clears that up.

AN Question: And about you?

AN Answer: No Comment

Alizée fan flashback

I had a flashback to 2008 (this is a fan flashback)

Maybe Alizée fans are ahead of the curve and not crazy.

Today a headline caught my eye "Offline & Anonymous File-Sharing Network Launches" Also know as "Dead Drops"

Hyperbot.com describes it as: Another p2p file-sharing network is starting in a public space near you. An artist based out of NYC has been embedding USB sticks into walls and curbs across the city. Aram Bartholl's project is called Dead Drops.

This offline and anonymous network allows anyone to plug into the network and upload or download anything they like. While the ports can mainly be found in Brooklyn and Manhattan, Bartholl plans to create a guide and enable people to create their own network anywhere. This is a small reminder that even if the web is locked down, people will still share their files.

Now before everyone screams virus and malware... it's the story that is important.
A few years back there was this Alizée fan that started dropping Alizée CD's around his city (Toronto if I recall). He called it Operation Disque Drop. Of course one of the drawbacks was... no one is going to put an anonymous CD in their computer for fear of a virus or malware.

Not recalling the exact spelling I searched for 'Disc Drop' ... and what did I find? There is a facebook page called "Operation Disc Drop" It is not updated and has been around about the same time as Operation: Disque Drop and it was out of Canada.

You can check out Disque Drop HERE

2 years later someone is making news embedding flash drives into public walls.
At the moment, Bartholl’s USB drives can be found at five spots in the Big Apple: 87 3rd Avenue, Brooklyn (Makerbot), Empire Fulton Ferry Park, Brooklyn (Dumbo), 235 Bowery (New Museum), Union Square (Subway Station 14th St), and West 21st Street (Eyebeam). Everyone is invited to go to these places to drop or find files. Exciting!

Disque Drop was an original "Street Team". 2 years ago flash drives were still expensive so "he" was sharing on the least expensive off line media of the day, CD's.

Crazy... innovative... silly... fun...

Our Halloween treat - Alizée

Is it time to compare the impact of random internet posts vs. planned print media copy?

Over the past 2 weeks there has been a bunch of activity spurred by two events, the shirt photos and now the Halloween picture. As far as reaching the fan base, could any more activity be stirred by an article in some print media? As a random event such as this... not really.

Alizée has always been a bit of an internet darling. Back in the day there were her "World of Warcraft" fans. The the internet started the sensation we recognize as the miracle in Mexico.

If your current base is from the internet I would go with it. You can do your own Press Releases. Don't fight the karma soul sister.

Look at last years Christmas song! What label is that on? YouTube

Of course the next question is... but how do you make money?
Watch the movie "The Social Network"
Mark Zuckerberg fought off the how do you make money questions constantly and now look...

I'm not saying that's going to happen... just take a look at that business model is all I am saying.

If you build it they will come.

So how about those pics, they were fun!!!!

How about those T Shirt pics, did you notice Joe Jacotey used one for one of his pictures. You know, if I throw on my wayfarers, let my hair grow out, I think I could trick or treat as Joe. Perhaps I exaggerate...

Just a thought Coachella

Just a thought that crossed my mind today regarding Coachella Festival.

Coachella does not seem to have a problem trying new things. Bringing in Jay-Z, changing to 3 day pass only... so...

How about a French Tent for a day? Maybe not even the whole day. There are two large stages and 3 smaller tented stages. I wonder if a tent for a day could have... (for example only) the likes of... Teki Latex, Para One, Surkin, Chateau Marmont, Sébastien Tellier, Kavinsky, The Teenagers, BB Brunes, Yelle, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Alizée, Oxmo Puccino... Just to name a few, just saying there are a lot to choose from that could make it work.

Then it could transition to a main stage for the likes of a Daft Punk or a Phoenix!

Me dreaming... thanks for listening....
It would be awesome!

Those pictures of the CEO of Alimart taken in the world headquarters of the Alimart warehouse are just a fine example of contrasts.

It is a wonderful thing to see the beauty of Alizée in a simple T shirt posed in front of a garage door, a block wall, a stack of pallets...

Alizée pic revisted...

I'm not finished with this pic yet!!!

1) This pic should be trending
2) as Katy Perry says and Alizée deserves... I think you're pretty without any make up on...
3) AND I am so happy Alizée has a daughter, no 5 1/2 year old boy should have a Mom that looks this hot. That just wouldn't be right. Yeah you know all you guys are shaking your heads in agreement. That would be therapy waiting to happen. Thank goodness for a daughter.

4) What's it going to take to get you into this garage door today?

Alizée is looking and doing fine

Wow...

OK OK I can't take it anymore. This photo leads me to just another one of my... shall we say... obsessions. Health, Wellness, Fitness...

Alizée I would love what you do. Perhaps nothing or maybe you are one of the "French Organic Revolution" people. (of course I watched that movie)

If you do nothing that would be interesting to know. If you do follow some routine in eating or in fitness that would be fun to know. I know, I know... privacy.

I am in to that and I know of another Alizée fan that has... become healthy. They shall remain nameless for now since that person keeps that on the private side also. So you do have some fans that would love to know about your diet habits. Because the last we ever knew you were just eating sweets all day and being caught in a candy shop.

Share with us your secrets on...

My friends call me a martyr, that I practice self deprivation...
No I don't have one of those things for my leg from the Da Vinci Code.
Yesterday I fasted, I probably fast about once every three weeks...
I am comfortable in tough times, I do not know what to do with myself and very uncomfortable in prosperous times.

The "Alizée Lifestyle" fits me perfect.
I wouldn't know how to act if she was extremely popular.

Where most complain... I feel most comfortable.

Even if something Alizée does shoots her to the top... how do you think she would react? Now that's something to ponder.

Para One Interview ...re: Alizée

http://www.sparse.fr/2010/10/19/para-one-interview/
Para One Interview ...re: Alizée

or my title: The More I See the Less I Know

My apologies to Para One for concentrating on the two Alizée paragraphs.
From the article:

This is Google Translator
Alizée on the piece you got the product for her latest album, A Girl difficult?
I arrived at the last moment on the project, I was not supposed to be in the cast. It was mounted by the rest of the crew and it was very good. Jean-Rene, who ran a few operations, wanted a piece apart, makes it fast, it happened at the last moment. I had this instrument, it was the words she sang, it was very fast. This is the kind of project a few years ago it would have been completely hysterical Alizée produce or pop record like that ... Maybe it's something old, not now it haunts me, I find it interesting to participate, but I will not have all my energy into a project like this because I believe more in the underground. I think more nerd stuff extremely sharp and not through traditional networks. To me there is a deadlock to be determined to get into these networks. I think for Alizée they made some sort of sabotage, it's a UFO in a traditional network.

You think that's why the album did not go well?
Possible. At the same time, today many successes do not exist, let alone in the music we love. They are kind of success now estimates, success of blogs. Me that I have long given up on the fact that commercial success and artistic success are linked. There Zaz ... Yaz (?) ... Zaz cartons that ... You see that and you think it's scary, it is endorsed by so many people like Telerama, "yeah it's great, the world of this girl "while it is a social climber who is crap. The fact that at a time when there was shit, it was clear it was really crap ... Now it's a bit shit disguised, is a bit cool and it begins to throw disorder.

As a musician I love music and I hear something that really touches me deeply and has the merit to exist. I feel too that with the tricks that work under pop, which comes on the radio right now. So for me the war of the radio, look absolutely placing pieces is a little over, it's a fantasy we had in the early 2000s but that fascinates us most. With the development of blogs and anywhere you can totally have a career without going through the radio and that's where I want to be today.

or... The More I See the Less I Know

Alizée - The Semi Recluse

Alizée - The Semi Recluse
I settled on Semi Recluse, I think that it is accurate. It is not good or bad it just is.

The article How to be a recluse from The Independent.

"true reclusiveness always appears to shade into madness because, on the face of it, the practitioner is turning down money"

Short of hiding from the public for decades, the next most intriguing strategy is to be a writer or performer who "guards his privacy"

As a young journalist, I once asked Martin Amis's publicity people whether I could interview him. "You can't interview him now," they carefully stated, "because he has nothing to promote. When he has something to promote, then you can interview him." It fascinated me that (a) he had licensed these third parties to say this on his behalf and (b) that he didn't immediately find something to promote (options would include his last book, or his next one, or just himself in general) purely for the sake of being in the papers. But no. There was a time to be famous, and a time not to be.

The success of the strategy of semi-reclusiveness is determined by the degree to which the number of offers of publicity refused at inconvenient times is exceeded by the numbers of opportunities accepted at convenient ones. One of our leading semi-recluses is Alan Bennett, who generally succeeds in being either everywhere or nowhere at any given moment. The one biography of him, written by Alex Games, is called Backing Into the Limelight

Another interesting article: J. D. Salinger a Recluse? Well, Not to His Neighbors from the New York Times.

Despite his reputation, Mr. Salinger “was not a recluse,” said Nancy Norwalk, a librarian at the Philip Read Memorial Library in Plainfield, which Mr. Salinger would frequent. “He was a towns- person.”

And last week, after his death, his neighbors would not talk about him, reflecting what one called “the code of the hills.”

The Corsican Code!

“Nobody conspired to keep his privacy, but everyone kept his privacy —

He was an individual who just wanted to live his life.”

Alizée is surrounded by people that will keep her privacy...that allows her to just live her life between appearances.

And of course there is the Are You a Recluse Quiz

Bisoux is on My List

My friends wonder why I BLOG you all the time,
What can I say?
I don't feel the need to give such secrets away
You think maybe I need help though I know i am right, all right
I'm just better off not listening to friends advice

When they insist on knowing my bliss,I tell them this
When they want to know what the reason is
I only smile when I lie, then I tell them why

Because your kiss, your kiss is on my list
Because your kiss, your kiss is on my list
Because your kiss is on my list of the best things in life
Because your kiss, your kiss is on my list
Because your kiss, your kiss I can't resist
Because your kiss it's what I miss when I turn out the lights

I go crazy wondering what there is to really see
Did the night just take up your time, cause it means more to me
Sometimes I forget what I'm doing, I don't forget what I want,what I want
Regret what I've done, regret you? I couldn't go on

But if you insist on knowing my bliss,I'll tell you this
If you want to know what the reason is
I only smile when I lie, then I'll tell you why

Because your kiss, your kiss is on my list
Because your kiss, your kiss I cant resist
Because your kiss is what I miss when I turn out the lights

Le Nid is back

Following Alizée is always an adventure. You actually learn a lot about French culture and idiosyncrasies.

About 2 weeks ago Le Nid posts on Facebook and Twitter ( @nidalizee ) that the website was going down.

That was it, that was all, nothing else. A quite panic set in....

Today it is back. Me taking a SWAG...
SWAG is a Scientific Wild Ass Guess as opposed to a...
WAG which is just a Wild Ass Guess

my SWAG is... URL registration was due, perhaps some change in hosting and back online. I think it's just hilarious that they don't mention it. Oh those French, it's none of our business. See the culture difference. What a hoot.

Of course I could be wrong.... let me think about that... naaaaaaa

Welcome back Le Nid

you come and go, you come and go...
I wanna be like Le Nid and Alizée when I grow up :)

Alizée Twitter and WWCD

Oh come on, you all saw it...

Did I really need to post it. There! See for yourself. Alizée actually updated her Twitter account. Not just her bi-monthly or is it semi monthly or what ever term is used for tweeting every other month... But actually updated who she follows.

:(

No "Alizee Nation" follow... I have been drowning in a sea of self pity ever since. How can I go on, my blogging life is just not worthy. I could live with no twitter account update, we have all come to accept that. Pretty girls do what they want. I mean... I can live with being ignored, but this... this new turn of events... being rejected! I couldn't eat, I couldn't tweet, blogging was out of the question. I looked to see if blogger had a "hot line" number, someone to talk to about my thoughts of ending it all. Then even worse!!! My thoughts went to those who have flipped to the 'dark side', you know, the ones we can't talk about, the unmentionables. Many have fallen before me, just another notch on her lipstick case. I came this close to ending it all... there it was... right in front of me....'DELETE THIS BLOG'

But then... out of nowhere came this song, this answer to my prayer...

and I had this epiphany!!!! WWCD .... What Would Charlie Do?

Charlie would get right back on that horse and keep going, keep trying... I don't know why I had the TV on the educational channel that night but it was exactly what I needed. WWCD

So here we go, giddyup...
