YouTube now counts for US BillBoard
Billboard, along with statistics company Nielsen SoundScan, says it will
now incorporate all official videos on YouTube, including Vevo on
YouTube and user-generated clips that use official audio.
Changes went into effect this week.
Putting viral video hit Harlem Shake at No. 1 in its first week on the chart.
What does this mean? #1 on Billboard with little or even no albums sold... interesting... putting the control in your hands and taking power away from radio play or even forcing radio play if they want to become relevant.
Psy's Gangnam Style, which last year become the first online video to surpass one billion views, rebounded from 48 to claim the 26th spot on this week's chart due to the new rating system.
Let the viral YouTube wars begin!
As they say about playing the Lottery, you have to play to win... and if a video is "not viewable in my country" you can not win.
Alizée, is this a window of opportunity? A new rating system incorporated into the rankings that is not based on touring, concerts, album sales but the "viralness" of your YouTube video. It certainly does not hurt. I guess the new thing will be to get videos "viewed" because now it can count
So... will artists now "reintroduce" songs on official YouTube and Vevo accounts to see if the video can go viral? I see no downside
For instance, what if... Moi Lolita and J'en ai Marre (En Concert live videos) were officially added to the Vevo account and say they had a degree of popularity... would those songs be able to hit the Billboard chart ten years after the fact.... I don't know... hmmmm

A Youtube strategy
I have been reading some feedback regarding videos and quality of videos. Some very good points have been made and I have to agree. I can change my point of view, I am allowed. Really some points have been made and I have given it some thought.
In the past sites such as Youtube did not exist. Camera phones were not in every pocket. I now believe that entertainers need to have a 'Youtube strategy'. Are they going to just let poor videos represent them or will they want to provide their own Youtube video? Whether to do nothing or to provide something is a decision that now needs to be made. This decision did not exist previously.
A television show, a taped event, that video is already going to be provided. But a single artist concert, what are you going to do. You can not stop 5,000 fans from bringing their camera phones and posting non studio quality that may make you look or sound bad on Youtube.(a point by wt in the shout box) New fans maybe turned off (thank you anonymous comment from previous post).
New technology is forcing the hand of the artist to provide something that was not provided for previously. Either a simple free version released or an immediate pay per view version. It could be a simple one camera view but of studio quality. If the artist wants to release a DVD it would be the full version, multi cameras, etc...
Or not, it is something to consider now. It is now a decision. No, nothing is going to be provided, Yes, something official will be released to the internet.
Glad I do not have to figure that one out.
An entire post where I did not mention the name Alizee, opps.

Invitation to Alizée
Posting videos is already being done by YouTube and Daily Motion and what a great job they do. There are some great Alizee forums out there, I visit them myself. I have tried to create something a little different for Alizee and her fans by publishing this blog. A blog is a collections of ideas, opinions and thoughts. So now we have this blog full of different thoughts, Bob Dylan interviews, Gwen Stafani videos, maps and graphs. Can this blog now meld more then my opinion? Maybe an occasional guest commentary. Then I thought: It would be so cool if Alizee could post her opinion occasionally. No interviews, no crazy questions just an occasional opinion about something that may have appeared on this blog. Maybe three times a year. It could be information regarding which song is most popular in Mexico and how surprising that is, or that Rimbaud post was awesome/ridiculous/whatever. Here it could be a post once a month or once a year. On the official page or official MySpace it may lead to people expecting something regular. Here, we expect nothing, we are grateful for whatever would be given. No follow up questions, just a post, a statement from something that sparked an opinion. Music, fashion, football, Tinkerbell, Corsica, it is all covered here. So this is an open invitation to you Alizee to be a guest author. Am I too bold, too crazy? Dare to dream. I say why not!
As Tinkerbell said: If you can't imagine yourself being Peter Pan, you won't *be* Peter Pan, so eat up.

http://alizee-music.blogspot.com information
I do not know if anyone ever wonders who else looks at the blog. As you see by the counter lower on the page that visitors come from all over the world. I would like to thank everyone for stopping by. Mexico and France have a nice presence here, not bad for an English based blog. Repeat visitors come from everywhere and anywhere. I am always amazed when there is a visitor from Bangladesh and the next visitor is from 10 miles away. I can not decide which one is more unusual.
There was an Alizee interview where she was talking about going on to YouTube and reading the comments regarding her. I wonder...has she stopped by here?
