Les Collines and 2011

Can we talk?

Here we are... December 2010.
Last year we were surprised by the participation in the Christmas song. Oh and by the way that was a nice gift. So unusual for it to be YouTube only, free...
That was nice, thank you.

But let's look at Les Collines...
So Charts in France has selected 15 videos that have buzzed past twelve months. They labeled Les Enfoires #7.
Getting listed with Amel Bent at #15 is not to shabby either.
Charts in France

There appears to be a second wind developing for Les Collines. Perhaps an award nomination... and don't forget... there is still The Teenagers remix waiting to be released. Maybe that is why that never was released. It could be part of "Operation Second Wind" or "Deuxième Opération alizé" ... is that even close?

Let's then throw in a new song and there you have it, busy for the first half of 2011.

OK, now what... I set up Alizée's 2011 career, hmmm Jo? Need some help?
If it were only that easy.

Alizée - Gourmandises - L'Alizé

Alizée - Gourmandises - L'Alizé

nidalizee

From Wikipedia:(click on them to magnify for reading)

There is never a lot of random going on with Alizée, so the November 21 release date, according to Wikipedia???? Any significance??? I wonder :) or just a coincidence or just an inaccurate date. Just a thought, that's all.

Speaking of things I always wondered... I always wondered if Wisteria Song was a... shall we say a present? Or just me noticing things that don't mean anything... moving on...

Let's celebrate with L'Alizé
Yes, Alizée, I know you felt you were wearing pajamas with this outfit, but the smile you radiate is beyond description and I am a sucker for a smile.

Alizée - The Permanent One

I was in the middle of withdrawals when the that @nidalizee twitter post came... just in time. I was starting to shake and shiver, fade in out of reality... did I just dream Alizée, she is real...right?

Now by now if you read this once in a while you know I joke and jest a lot. I try to have fun with it all. We may throw someone else in a post just for something to post but they are just a substitute. I try to be the life of the party by telling a joke or two...

Just in time @nidalizee, just in time...

Alizee Nation Thanksgiving poem

We followed a blog called Le Nid
It covered everything Alizee did

From her head to her toes
Her appearances and shows

Even a Twitter until Alizee... hid

With nothing new to report
and no new creations

we're forced to turn to
oh no, Alizee Nation...

We're serious fans, this will never do
We need the real Alizee
and Jo Jacotey too!

Please Le Nid have "something" to say
Save us from Holiday depression today...

A shout out to JoJac - Jo Nation

Inside every older person is a younger person – wondering what the hell happened.

Men are like wine: some turn to vinegar, but the best improve with age.

Just remember, once you’re over the hill you begin to pick up speed.

Growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.

To me, old age is always 20 years older than I am.

When Jack London had his portrait made by the noted San Francisco photographer Arnold Genthe, London began the encounter with effusive praise for the photographic art of his friend and fellow bohemian, Genthe. "you must have a wonderful camera...It must be the best camera in the world...You must show me your camera." Genthe then used his standard studio camera to make what has since become a classic picture of Jack London. When the sitting was finished, Genthe could not contain himself: "I have read your books, Jack, and I think they are important works of art. You must have a wonderful typewriter." - Anonymous

Really, taking down facebook, did you think that would work? On Moi Jo, Moi! Really?

It's all for fun, well as long as your "kids" dont not throw in a bunch of black balloons... kids!

Enjoy your day, hopefully with those that matter, best wishes.

Alizée heading into the Holidays

We are heading straight into the Holiday Season here in the United States. 6 Days away is Thanksgiving Day. I have been requested to bake desert for a Thanksgiving dinner, items not familiar here. Sure, I will be attending and supplying some of the dessert dishes. Not all the "real" ingredients are available here but I can make do. Today when I arrived home there was a box... from big sister. I was asked to supply dessert in July and I must have mentioned it to my sister and she sent me the "real" ingredients, 2,000 miles away and just in time... big sisters... but this jar of powdered peanut butter, that's out of the blue and sure is interesting...

The Friday after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday. The biggest shopping day of the year. I wonder if Alimart will take advantage of the season? www.alizeestore.com
Have you ever googled 'Alizee Store' :/ how was I to know that you were going to open an Alizee Store soul sister? Yeah those top two are mine, it was a long time ago and I... well I guess it doesn't matter. I can just redirect everything back to your store. Let me know.

In case anyone was wondering, my next email or tweet from Alizée will be my first. Really. For some reason some just don't seem to believe that, but it's true. So to get those wanting autographs and such... try the record label.

But I'll tell you what. If I get a tweet or email, even just a smiley face tweet, I'll get an Alizée tattoo. That's how confident I am that it can never happen. Oh and don't forget that would mean she would probably have to be aware of this post... there is better chance of me containing some anti-matter in my microwave.

So with the Holidays approaching I suspect things to be... quite?
With all the posts Jo does on Facebook perhaps I should switch over and do "Jo Nation", ohhhh..... Just fooling around... We don't know much about the Jacotey's but I suspect from the small glimpses we see I think they have a great sense of humor. For the longest time Jo hid from or hid behind his camera. He always toyed with us from behind the lens. His latest photo with the wayfarers is great, a playful look, not over serious... love it. Alizée's timing and humor at times reminds me of Cher. Alizée plays the straight part extremely well, the way Cher used to do it. I guess that maybe the first time Alizée and Cher were in a sentence together. But seriously Alizée plays the straight part in a humorous situation very well, like Dean Martin was for Jerry Lewis, Cher to Sonny. Remember the Mexican soap opera, or the Moi Lolita version with Elie Semoun

We just get Jeremy a vest and a wig and we're set!! I'm a genius...

Well there you have it soul sister. I'm finished stirring up trouble for right now. Enjoy your weekend, I know it's kind of a special one, I hope work does not interfere.

Alizée - the game of Risk

Alizée - the game of Risk

You know, the board game, Risk, where you take over the world.

You are Alizée, you have taken over Mexico and it is time to make a new move. Greater Europe you are already an influence, United States and Canada you are not ready to make that commitment. So where do you make your next move on the Risk board.

Based on what little evidence I have... it's India or perhaps Peru...

Did you know...
"Risk was invented by French film director Albert Lamorisse and originally released in 1957, as La Conquête du Monde ("The Conquest of the World"), in France. Risk is a turn-based game for two to six players. The standard version is played on a board depicting a political map of the Earth, divided into forty-two territories, which are grouped into six continents. The primary object of the game is "world domination," or "to occupy every territory on the board" - Wikipedia

Then there is Risk the risk management software. @RISK performs risk analysis using Monte Carlo simulation to show you many possible outcomes in your Microsoft Excel spreadsheet—and tells you how likely they are to occur.

Hmmm, they do not have the entertainment version... sure would be nice. Just punch in... UEDS and some options with it and ... Voila!

If it were only that simple... perhaps... hmmm

Alizée... I wonder what you're up to...

Alizée... I wonder what you're up to...

Sitting in traffic tonight that question crossed my mind. Maybe she is doing what all parents of 5 to 12 year olds are doing... running her ass off taking her daughter from one thing to another.

What do young Parisian parents do with their children? Karate lessons? Art lessons? Music? Soccer leagues? Computer classes... besides the usual pre school.

That is the age when the kids take over their parents lives... the parents become chauffeurs.

I wonder...

How much more of that can I take... I am not sure where that is going
quantity is there but the quality...
it can be a grass roots news service
a cheap pr firm
and a micro blog for others

it was almost fun for a while to watch wanna be celebs tweet each other in front of us while ignoring the masses, but that got old too

everyone posted everything and now we are all looking at each other and saying... is that it? your life sucks as much as mine....meh

Is this just another manic Monday point of view... well ya know it could be, I hope it is.

Please, don't anyone take this personal... it's not you it's me

Alizée and the rest of 2010

6 weeks until Christmas... should we expect anything between now and then? Nothing happens fast in Alizée World. Should we expect anything, an appearance, a tweet? Oh yeah, Alizée will be giving a thought to tweet this week, don't know if she knows it yet, we'll see. Moving on...

If you recall Alizée tweeting in the Spring of 2009 about recording the songs for UEDS and that did not get released until March 2010.

The Teenagers tweeted they did a remix July 21...it's now 4 months later...
Looks like I'm going to have to get the legendary detective "L" on the case...

getting ready to get ready to get ready

Soul Sister... go get that box those Nike's came in... did you find it? What's it say on the box? Just Do It

Yeah, you caught me... Alizee Nation doing it's own form of "Alizée Should" ...
Would you like another one?

How did UEDS do? ... This was a concept album it appealed to a specific niche market...

... it was not a mass appeal album but something I wanted to do. The single "Les Collines" has surprised us with a million views on YouTube so far.

...and according to my favorite blog Alizee Nation ... alright alright perhaps I am pushing the limits of believability on that one. :)

Alizée Superfans

Wow, I just read an article "Bands As A Business: Invest Money In Marketing" on Hypebot.com. This is second part of an interview segment with Paige X. Cho, who is the Administration and Promotions Manager for digital distributor Valleyarm and author of the Melbourne music blog Paper-Deer. In this part, Cho talks about the importance of bands thinking of themselves as a business, how pop suffers the most from file sharing, and the shutdown of LimeWire.

Now that is out of the way.

The very first question regarding "superfans" you would think it was written about Alizée:

Could you describe the relationship between superfans and the artists?

Cho: The term "superfan" reminds me of Mel from Flight of the Conchords - sometimes a little creepy, borderline stalker behavior but all done with good intentions. Like John Roderick writes, these are the obsessive fans that have a lot invested in bands and feel that their over-the-top and unsolicited help means that they should be friends with the band and get thanked on stage or first dibs on anything. I've even known a superfan who weirdly knew the shampoo her favorite singer used!

The problem with these fans is they aren't happy with just getting newsletters or buying autographed merch. They feel they deserve more, and the problem is that these fans get offended very easily. If you walk by them outside a venue without hearing them go "hi" or you don't personally reply to their emails, they seem to get upset and could possibly "turn" against you.

How often have we seen that happen...
Or are you an "IF" fan.... I am a fan "if" she does this or "if" she does that.

Alizee Nation autointerview

The AutoInterviw (self interview)
I really did not think there was enough information for an autobiography but an autointerview….sure.

Alizee Nation Question: How long have you been doing the blog?

Alizee Nation Answer: Coming up on 3 years

AN Question: And how did it come about?

AN Answer: There were several “projects” going on and I thought why not do a blog on Alizee too! Then it just kept going.

AN Question: When did you first notice Alizee

AN Answer: I don’t remember exactly, the early days of À Contre-Courant, then L’Alize and that smile. But what really hooked me was the interview Alizee walked out on. That’s when I said, I like her. That’s when it became more then the look, more then the song, it was the personality.

AN Question: Do you know Alizee?

AN Answer: (looking annoyed)

AN Question: What?

AN Answer: That’s a ridiculous question, don’t make me walk out…

AN Question: Moving on, do you think Alizee reads the blog?

AN Answer: No, not at all. Aware…maybe, but read it? She has better things to do.

AN Question: What do you think of all the new blogs and sites?

AN Answer: I think it’s great. Fans get to be creative, it’s more publicity for Alizee. Why not. I would encourage anyone to try their hand at it. As a matter of fact I just shared some words yesterday with Alizee South Africa. I suggested posting something, don’t make me kick your ass. Look, a fun post. It’s fun to encourage and nurture each other.

AN Question: What do you hope for next?

AN Answer: I got out of the “Alizee should” business.
If Alizee did what we wanted it would be like going to the zoo or circus to see animals perform. I prefer to see them in their wild state… like Alizee. I hope that clears that up.

AN Question: And about you?

AN Answer: No Comment

Alizée fan flashback

I had a flashback to 2008 (this is a fan flashback)

Maybe Alizée fans are ahead of the curve and not crazy.

Today a headline caught my eye "Offline & Anonymous File-Sharing Network Launches" Also know as "Dead Drops"

Hyperbot.com describes it as: Another p2p file-sharing network is starting in a public space near you. An artist based out of NYC has been embedding USB sticks into walls and curbs across the city. Aram Bartholl's project is called Dead Drops.

This offline and anonymous network allows anyone to plug into the network and upload or download anything they like. While the ports can mainly be found in Brooklyn and Manhattan, Bartholl plans to create a guide and enable people to create their own network anywhere. This is a small reminder that even if the web is locked down, people will still share their files.

Now before everyone screams virus and malware... it's the story that is important.
A few years back there was this Alizée fan that started dropping Alizée CD's around his city (Toronto if I recall). He called it Operation Disque Drop. Of course one of the drawbacks was... no one is going to put an anonymous CD in their computer for fear of a virus or malware.

Not recalling the exact spelling I searched for 'Disc Drop' ... and what did I find? There is a facebook page called "Operation Disc Drop" It is not updated and has been around about the same time as Operation: Disque Drop and it was out of Canada.

You can check out Disque Drop HERE

2 years later someone is making news embedding flash drives into public walls.
At the moment, Bartholl’s USB drives can be found at five spots in the Big Apple: 87 3rd Avenue, Brooklyn (Makerbot), Empire Fulton Ferry Park, Brooklyn (Dumbo), 235 Bowery (New Museum), Union Square (Subway Station 14th St), and West 21st Street (Eyebeam). Everyone is invited to go to these places to drop or find files. Exciting!

Disque Drop was an original "Street Team". 2 years ago flash drives were still expensive so "he" was sharing on the least expensive off line media of the day, CD's.

Crazy... innovative... silly... fun...
2008 revisted

Our Halloween treat - Alizée

Is it time to compare the impact of random internet posts vs. planned print media copy?

Over the past 2 weeks there has been a bunch of activity spurred by two events, the shirt photos and now the Halloween picture. As far as reaching the fan base, could any more activity be stirred by an article in some print media? As a random event such as this... not really.

Alizée has always been a bit of an internet darling. Back in the day there were her "World of Warcraft" fans. The the internet started the sensation we recognize as the miracle in Mexico.

If your current base is from the internet I would go with it. You can do your own Press Releases. Don't fight the karma soul sister.

Look at last years Christmas song! What label is that on? YouTube

Of course the next question is... but how do you make money?
Watch the movie "The Social Network"
Mark Zuckerberg fought off the how do you make money questions constantly and now look...

I'm not saying that's going to happen... just take a look at that business model is all I am saying.

If you build it they will come.

So how about those pics, they were fun!!!!

How about those T Shirt pics, did you notice Joe Jacotey used one for one of his pictures. You know, if I throw on my wayfarers, let my hair grow out, I think I could trick or treat as Joe. Perhaps I exaggerate...
