Alizee - Leona Lewis
Alizee and Leona Lewis and what in the world do they have to do with each other?
I came across this article about Leona Lewis...oh, to explain, Leona is a winner of the British talent/reality show The X Factor. A recent hit of hers is "Better in Time"
Back to the article from the magazine "NOW"
Leona Lewis: I don't want to be too famous
Leona Lewis hopes she doesn’t become as famous as Madonna.
The X Factor winner, 23, reckons she’d lose her privacy if she became a worldwide icon.
‘I don’t know if I’d like to be that big,’ she tells The Sun. ‘I like to lead a relatively normal life.
'I like the normality of being able to go to the shops, go out with my friends.
‘Then again I love the way huge stars like that have been able to connect with so many people and make so many albums of great music, so that’s what I want as well.
'But I think it’s a balance. I don’t want to go off the rails
Now before everyone goes crazy comparing...STOP
Do not loose track of the point, privacy is a big issue and it something celebrities take into account...how famous do I want to be?

American Music Awards
Tonight 11/23
The American Music Awards show is one of several annual major American music awards shows (among the others are the Billboard Music Awards, the Grammy Awards, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony). The AMA's (in current chronological order, the first of the "Big Three" music awards) were created by Dick Clark in 1973 to compete with the Grammys.
While the Grammys are awarded based on votes by members of the entertainment industry, the AMAs are determined by a poll of music buyers. The "big three" established awards shows (AMAs, Billboard Music Awards, and Grammys) compete for prestige and television ratings, with the Grammys nominally rewarding quality and both the AMAs and Billboard Music Awards rewarding popularity.
The only other major difference between the Grammys and Billboard Music Awards and the AMAs is that the AMAs do not currently have an award for Best Single/Record but the Grammys and Billboard Music Awards do.
Although the American Music Awards is primarily for artists that originate from the United States, international artists like Elton John, Celine Dion, Shania Twain, George Michael, Rihanna, Shakira and the Spice Girls have also won awards on the show.

Alizee - pronunciation
Well how do we pronounce Alizee?
Here is your chance to have a little fun with it...
There is a web site that everyone can get involved.
You can vote or do your own pronunciation.
Currently there are two.
One from Canada (those guys from Canada, it is a long winter) and one from Mexico.
Alizee pronunciation web site.
At first you will only see one to click and play, on the right column under 'filter by quality' click on 'show low rated pronunciation, then you will see both.
Different accents say things different ways. It could be fun and educational.
It would be awesome if Alizee or Jeremy logged on and recorded it...nice to dream.

Alizee feet again
2 out of the last 10 still looking for Alizee's feet.
Out of everything we post here this is the one that makes me chuckle the most.
This maybe the third post on here regarding this subject.
People keep looking for it so I keep posting it.
Possibly I am developing a fetish for following the people that have a fetish for Alizee's feet.
I did a little looking around the net and enjoyed reading a thread on the Alizee America Forum started by Rocket. Fun thread Rocket. Check it out, it is a fun thread, Rocket does her own version of girls gone wild and shows hers. (her feet)
You could make some money selling fatheads of Alizee's feet.
How would you like that on your wall.

Veni Vidi Vici - Alizee and I need to know
This is a blatant appeal for a response.
Why are so many of you searching for Alizee, Veni Vidi Vici lyrics?
The searches are specifically including the Alizee's name with Veni Vidi Vici.
It is not an accident, it is not searchers stumbling upon here looking for Julius Caesar or just the saying Veni Vidi Vici.
This morning 4 out of the last 10 visits have been visitors looking for the combination of Alizee and VVV. World wide, no specific area.
I previously posted the lyrics due to the interest.
Did a Veni Vidi Vici clip on youtube with a modest couple hundred visits.
But there is another on youtube. Been there for almost two years. Ready for this...it has 5 million views! Yes, I said 5 million.
I am begging, my best beg...WHY?
Is this slow motion viral?
Does Disquedrop need to make a specific edition CD/DVD for you all? For a nominal amount I am sure he would do something really nice.
Alizee America has its post on the subject.
It is track 7 on Gourmandises
1. "Moi... Lolita" – 4:16
2. "Lui ou Toi" – 4:15
3. "L'Alizé" – 4:15
4. "J.B.G." – 3:55
5. "Mon Maquis" – 5:40
6. "Parler tout bas" – 4:35
7. "Veni Vedi Vici" – 4:20
8. "Abracadabra" – 4:00
9. "Gourmandises" – 4:10
10. "A quoi rêve une jeune fille" – 4:05
May be we will need to take a closer look at some others in this collection.
From Alizee-Reflections, some English translations and interpretations.

Alizee - Rubato remix...backwards!
I always enjoyed the Rubato remix. I liked that slow deliberate beat and voice, almost as if it had a trance beat to it. So, I thought it would be fun to listen to it backwards to listen for any hidden messages. Of course I thought that would be fun.
Now, the video you have been waiting for, the Alizee Rubato remix backwards.
The video is not backwards, the song is backwards.
How about you, did you hear a hidden message?
yeah, I had a little too much time on my hands.

Alizee to Stephen King
The three major factors with Alizee are:
Music
Looks
Personality
Alizee fans appear to differ by which of the three you list as first. I ask not which of the three received your initial attention, but after that, which of the three keeps you interested in Alizee?
For me it is Personality. Looks and Music are great extras, do not get me wrong, but I just can not wait to see what happens next. The attitude is something I admire as you can notice by my posts. That is why there is no bandwagon for me to jump off of while others admiring more “Looks” and more “Music” grow frustrated.
There is no ‘wrong’ way to be a fan. This is just a notation that there are different types of fans. C’est OK.
Reading various forums I note that there are fans that mention ‘getting to know her’. They refer to her personality, it is good to know I am not alone. I do wonder how aware Alizee is of this, that people do admire her for herself?
There is no doubt that her career started off on “the look” and the music was based on a fabricated persona. It worked. Now in the second part of her career I sometimes wonder if she is actually trying to shed the original fan that was based on that fabricated persona. Does it make her question herself? Was it only the persona that people loved? Now. every appearance is scrutinized, every outfit, every note she sings, every hair on her head…
I had some thoughts bouncing around in my head and had this crazy notion.
You may have noticed some April March videos on the web site. Obviously April March is not her real name. A pseudonym. Of course I would think that was interesting.
Moving some things around I came across some books, the Bachman Books. These were a set of books published by the famous ‘horror’ author Stephen King. He published them under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. Fake photo and all on the book jacket.
King stated that Bachman was an attempt to make sense out of his career and try to answer the question of whether his success was due to talent or luck. He says he deliberately released the Bachman novels with as little marketing presence as possible and did his best to "load the dice against" Bachman. King concludes that he has yet to find an answer to the "talent versus luck" question. The Bachman book Thinner sold 28,000 copies during its initial run--and then ten times as many when it was revealed that Bachman was, in fact, King. (wikipedia)
And I got to thinking…I wonder if Alizee would ever release a song under a pseudonym? Pull a Bachman.
Back to reality…

Alizee - The Blog - last 30 days
What is going on with some of the "red states" in the USA?
India is stronger then central US.
Europe is saturated as expected even though I write this in English. Way to go.
Curious to me...nothing from Corsica, maybe I do not understand the internet set up there. Possibly it shows as mainland France. ??? Sardinia logs on.
What about Puerto Rico?
Did you know...In the 19th century hundreds of Corsicans left their families and homeland, the island of Corsica in the Mediterranean Sea, and immigrated to the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. Corsicans moved in large numbers to Puerto Rico, where their descendants today number some 400,000.
It could be a great place to target.
Well, there you go.

Corse, Corsica, Omerta, Vendetta, Mylene Farmer and Alizee
Poll Shows Law Of Silence Deeply Rooted In Corsica
Reuter, 11 December 1996
PARIS, Dec 11 (Reuter)—“Omerta”, the centuries-old law of silence which prevents Corsicans from informing on one another, still holds sway on this volatile Mediterranean island, according to an opinion poll published on Wednesday.
The poll, published in the daily newspaper Le Figaro, showed 48 percent of Corsicans would not testify in a trial against the island's minority separatist guerrillas even if they personally witnessed a separatist bombing attack.
REF: Code Of Silence In Corsica
Omertà implies “the categorical prohibition of cooperation with state authorities or reliance on its services, even when one has been victim of a crime.” Even if somebody is convicted for a crime he has not committed, he is supposed to serve the sentence without giving the police any information about the real criminal.
REF: wikipedia
It is no accident that the term "vendetta" is the only Corsican word to have passed unchanged into the dictionaries of most of the world's languages. Blood feuds were still going strong only a generation or so ago and continue even today. "You must never forget," one observer admonishes, "that the vendetta was, for thousands of years, the only law a Corsican could trust."
REF: Smithsonian magazine, February 2002
A Corse Vendetta Knife
The 18th century Corsican government of Pasquale Paoli tried to put an end to the vendetta. Since then, blood feuds have become less common in the towns. Unfortunately, they have not been stopped in the less accessible parts of the island, where heavy undergrowth, known as maquis, provides natural hiding places.
REF: French at a touch
Ahhh, maquis, as in Mon Maquis!
Mylene Farmer
In December of 1991...there was an incident with a disturbed fan... Following this occurrence Farmer shunned all media attention and left France to live anonymously in California. In the following years, Farmer became almost as famous for her reclusivity as for her recording career, keeping all aspects of her personal life private, and limiting herself to one interview per album.
REF: wikipedia
Growing up surrounded by that history, that environment, being the protege of Mylene, we can get a little insight into Alizee's world.
Alizee is not going to be an open book and it maybe difficult at times to understand her motives. In one of Alizee's early interviews she recalls the time she and her friends heard her music on the radio the first time. She had not even told her friends that she released a single, a 15 year old did not even tell her friends! And we want more. I hope this brings us to a closer understanding of Alizee. To have more insight for what we may expect from her and embrace it as being unique. Her career path may be exactly what she needs, just not always what you want.
Now how about some Mon Maquis

Alizee and France and Serge
Alizee Jacotey and France Gall and Serge Gainsbourg
For Serge success began to arrive when, in 1965, his song "Poupée de cire, poupée de son" was the Luxembourg entry in the Eurovision Song Contest. Performed by French teen singer France Gall, it won first prize. (wikipedia)

Yé-Yé
Yé-Yé music. From Wikipedia - see for longer version.
Yé-yé was a style of pop music that emerged out of France in the 1960's.
Yé-yé music was unique in a number of ways: first, it was the only musical movement so far to be spearheaded by females; second, it was a mostly European phenomenon.
Yé-yé girls were young and innocent, most of their songs talked of finding the first love. They were also sexy, in a deliberately naïve way. Serge Gainsbourg called France Gall the French Lolita.
The yé-yé movement had its origins in the radio programme "Salut les copains", which was first aired in December 1959. This program became an immediate success and one of its sections ("le chouchou de la semaine" / "this week's sweetheart") turned to be the starting point for most yé-yé singers. Any song that was presented as a chouchou went straight to the first places in the charts.
See Wikipedia.
Yé-yé singers: France Gall, Sylvie Vartan, Jacqueline Taïeb, Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin to name a few.
A common thread here is Serge Gainsbourg.
Jane Birkin: In 1969, she and Serge Gainsbourg released the song "Je t'aime... moi non plus" ("I love you... me neither"), written initially for Brigitte Bardot (the recording was released only in the seventies), by Gainsbourg and featuring both of them singing, which caused a scandal for its sexual explicitness. Arguably due in part to the publicity it got from being banned by radio stations in Italy, Spain, and the UK, it was a commercial success all over Europe. The song's fame is a result of its salacious lyrics (sung in French) against a background of female moaning and groaning, culminating in an orgasm at the song's conclusion. (wikipedia)
France Gall: The first airplay of France's first single "Ne sois pas si bête" ("Don't Be So Stupid"), occurred on her 16th birthday. It was released in November and became a hit. Serge Gainsbourg, whose career was faltering although he had released several albums and written songs for singers including Michèle Arnaud and Juliette Gréco, was asked by Bourgeois to write songs for Gall. Gainsbourg's "N'écoute pas les idoles" ("Don't listen to the idols") became Gall's second single; it reached the top of the French charts in March 1964. Gall and Gainsbourg's association produced many popular singles, continuing through the summer of 1964 with the hit song "Laisse tomber les filles" ("Forget the girls"). At a young age, France Gall was too naïve to understand the second meaning of the lyrics and she felt she was used by Gainsbourg, most notably after the song "Les Sucettes" - literally about a girl eating lollipops but with a double meaning referring to oral sex. Today France Gall tries to not discuss it in public and refuses to perform her winning song.
That takes us to Mylène Farmer, Laurent Boutonnat, Alizée and now Lisa. Mylène and Laurent are definitely in the "Yé-Yé business". I do not hear it related to them but there can be no doubt about it. I am not negative or positive about it, just trying to state the situation. To their credit it appears they made Alizee aware of the situation, double entendre lyrics, Lolita, and the outfits. They also appear to have made it clear to Alizee that it is just an act. If only some of the fans could have realized that. To Alizee's credit it takes a strong personality to play that role. I admire her for that.
As Alizee got older there may have been a difference in an 'exit strategy' from yé-yé to adult star.
