The Unconditional Fan.
I do not need Alizee to do anything in exchange for being a fan.
She needs to do this, she needs to do that, frankly it does not bother me.
If she quits, I am still a fan. I enjoy her personality as is.
Some of you do not, I understand. Some of you need her to conduct herself in a manner, it is OK. I do not, you may.
Just a difference between a conditional and an unconditional fan.
Do you recall Alizee after the situation in Mexico? How upset and concerned she was. Can you imagine how she feels now? Do you truly think she is non caring? Let's pile on just like some did in Mexico.
Yes, things could have been done differently. Things have not worked out as well as we all would like to see. Do you need better management to remain a fan? It's OK if you do.
Communication. Alizee has had very limited contact with the public in the past, very limited contact in the present, and will probably have very limited contact in the future. Can you live with that?
We all want more. We can't get enough of Alizee. Some artist can give more, some less. Do you have a minimum requirement to be a fan?
There is some good news. With the high cost of gas it is good to note that the Alizee Bandwagon is getting much better gas mileage with the recent loss of dead weight.
Just kidding...If you are going to tell people the truth, you’d better make them laugh. Otherwise they’ll kill you. George Bernard Shaw

Alizee and the unconditional fan

I think it's possible to be a fan--even an unconditional fan--and still have the capacity to be disappointed, even angry. Like the love that exists between a parent and child, just because that bond exists and will always exist, doesn't necessarily mean that one party is totally incapable of doing wrong in the eyes of another. Unconditional does not have to translate into 'blind' or 'willfully ignorant'. The most contructive criticism often comes from those who love us most.
One of the most disappointing things about the past couple of days has been the way fans of all stripes have reacted not towards Alizée, her staff, or the recent decisions made...but they way they've reacted towards each other. While mostly civil on the surface, there's been a lot of passive-aggressive finger-pointing in the direction of others...so-and-so isn't a /real/ fan because they express disappointment, anger and even doubt...frick-and-frack is a naiive apologist because they display acceptance and reconfirm their their undying support. Worst yet are the fans who wag their fingers at the angry and disappointed, warning that they'll be sorry and feel foolish "when the truth comes out"...as if they have any better idea what "the truth is" than the rest of us.
Every reaction, every emotion, is valid at this point, at least until "the truth" comes out...if, indeed, it ever does. Huzzah to those who are weathering the storm unaffected, and condolences to those who are suffering the worst from it. Good luck and God bless to us all.
