In American baseball there is a player Manny Ramirez (currently with the Los Angeles Dodgers). Manny does not always conduct himself in a way we would consider normal or average for a baseball player. Manny is...an above average player, he too is a unique. When Manny does what he does it is known as "Manny being Manny".
Possibly the same could be said for European football star Zindane (of head butt fame).
Did you feel the ripple in the force today? No, not the economic melt down of the world, something more important. The ripple in the Alizee force. The announced (now be careful here, we lived through announcements before) postponement of the concert at Le Grand Rex until March. Wow, on one hand and yet not surprising on the other. It is Alizee being Alizee, she is a unique.
I think it is fair to say that Alizee is a bit of a recluse due to the fame and celebrity. Wikipedia has a long list of Famous Recluses. Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson, Sly Stone, Wachowski brothers to name some interesting ones. Read the one regarding Kraftwerk (please no). I think we can add Alizee to that list. That is not a bad thing, it just is.
Now, does any of this have anything to do with the concert, I doubt it. There is the award presentation mentioned, maybe the record company switch, could be the influence of many factors. But, does the lack of information about it have to do with the above, I think so.
Just Alizee being Alizee. Easy for me to say, I did not loose money on airline tickets. But don't you hope that is all it is for Alizee!
A lot of you think there have been some bad decisions lately. Wow, have I made my share of bad decisions. In the mean while keep in mind they may be the best moves for Alizee the person.

The problem is--and I mean this with the greatest amount of affection possible--that Alizée ain't exactly Bob Dylan, y'know what I'm saying? She cannot reasonably expect to maintain a career this way. Eventually, even Mexico will tire of the cat-and-mouse game, as France apparently has.
I appreciate that she's fiercely private, even shy--she's said as much--but make the choice to either be an active public figure and deal with everything that goes with it, or retire once and for all into privacy and obscurity, and deal with everything that goes with that. Taking and leaving your fans at will...not cool, and not even remotely possible at this stage of her career.
Contrary to the cover of Psychédélices, she can't eat her cake and have it, too. Sorry, but it is what it is.
