Alizee - Google Trends United States
Here is the 2009 to date chart. Compare it to the previous post that has the chart world wide. Wait a second...it's...it's...alive. Doctor, doctor, Alizee, Alizee, it has a pulse!.
No it is not New York or California leading the way, it is Virginia? No it is still not English but Spanish!

Alizee - Google Trends 2009 to date
With not even a full quarter in I thought the graph would be more useful. This is what I really started out for, I wanted to establish a bench mark before the concert and we could see what interest was stirred up. Especially now that we have heard of a concert in Aguacallente Mexico in April 18! When I first saw that I went 'what', just maybe someone was confused, I guess not, just me getting carried away. You see there is a casino in the Palm Springs area called Agua Callente and they do host events, and...it is the same weekend as Coachella Festival and...it is the same day 'The Killers' are playing, a group Alizee mentioned once...but... it was just my imagination...once again...running away with me...(Please no need to send me a jump to conclusions mat)
That reminds me...one day in a galaxy far far away, I asked Matrix 5060 to make a video for me...we could use a break
Turkey now has made it into the the top ten.
I better get something done before the "Bob's" come around and ask me 'what would you say you DO around here".

Alizee - Google Trends 2008
For Alizee in 2008 the front runners have held their place very well. Chile hit number 10, interesting and India number 8.

Alizee - Google Trends 2007
2007, the year of the new CD Psychedelices for Alizee. The numbers are starting to make little more sense then the previous year.
It appears that Latin American popularity was starting to grow starting half way through the 3 year absence and just continued to pick up momentum at Alizee's re-emergence. Just as any fan who discovered Alizee at that time, perhaps they did not go through the three year withdrawal symptoms.
I believe the numbers represented here are not overwhelming numbers and they are easily influenced by minor anomalies which can skew a few of the results.
Possibly some day we may see the United States on one of these charts.

Alizee Nation - one year old
Feburary 25, 2008 was the first post. Has it really been a year and this post number 415. I am not really sure what Alizee Nation started out to be and not really sure where it will go, but that keeps it fun.
We have had the Moscow and Mexico concerts. Television appearances where Alizee sang some different songs. The hair styles, oh how we love keeping up on the hair styles. The shoes the Nikes and all those visitors looking for Alizee's feet.
Here on the Alizee Nation blog different things have been tried, some added to the experience some, well, never caught on and we moved on. Some new pictures are sometimes added or rotated, favorites I just can't get myself to switch out. That sofa pic...I am really going to have to fight with my self to change that out. I know it may help to keep things fresh but really, do you think I have to, and did you ever notice that sofa, the seat cushion is just one big cushion. So is it attached at the ends so they do not come up like wings when you sit on it? Could you take it off and beat someone with it. This got me to reading about sofas. "How Many Cushions Do You Like on a Sofa? How many seat cushions would you like? One cushion offers a clean modern look while two or three are traditional. When you sit on the cushions, do they stay in place or do the corners flare up? Are they attached to the frame with a clip to hold them down?"
There I go, off on a tangent and on the anniversary post too. Well, where else are you going to hear about Alizee's sofa? Myspace? Oh gee, I should not have brought that up, let us not go there. Web sites, myspace and facebook, oh my!
Yeah, fans sure do get wound up about certain areas of Alizee's career. Especially the planning of it all, to the point that I bet the item Alizee receives most from fans are Franklin Day Planners. Let's see, Monday - update MySpace, there we go.
And what about me. The emails...am I Alizee, do I know Alizee, do I work for or with Alizee. Come on! What do you think? I don't think I even sound like her. There, now that we have that cleared up...
On posting, some I start and they do not make it, some I wish did not make it. I almost went off on the Alizee pic of her and Johnny Hallyday. Every time I see it I think of Seinfeld and George Costanza being draped in velvet. You all lucked out on that one.
I have enjoyed sharing the book 'French or foe'. A bit different but interesting. A concert is just a month away. That will create excitement. Then South America? Should be fun.
So here we go, I can't wait. Another year of Alizee Nation being Alizee Nation.
Thank you

Alizee getting some publicity
Two separate articles, both using the screen shot of Alizee to promote Les Enfoires. One from PREMIERE.FR and the other from Charts in France. Very nice.
New home, upcoming concert, new songs, sexy tan line...not bad for some one "ruining" her career. I never joined in on that band wagon. Yeah I know, she still is not in the news like our American idols, like losing custody of her kids or having a photo released showing domestic violence. C'est OK.
You know Watson...that tan line...if your asking me, and I know you are...based on the the time of year, the color and the angle of the line...I would guess that was created around the 4 35 S latitude. (now we're just acting silly)
Anyway, sometimes slow and steady wins the race. We all hope so, including our turtle friend here.

Alizée and Jérémy move to a new place. Bigger and better.
Used the google translator for the pic
UPDATE: For those asking...that converts to roughly 7,500 square feet. Now that's a hiding place...Alizee's "la grande cachette".

Alizee on my mind
A couple things on my mind.
Well, with the concert getting closer there will be a big wave of activity just around the corner. It will have a spike in interest, a spike in hits and a whole of lot of fun. I feel like I am bracing myself for it. I noticed I have not twittered in a week and am just sort of waiting...
In the mean time. For those of you looking for some fun, the group at Alizee America will be having another of their chat parties. There are lots of ways to enjoy these events, take a look here and see what it is all about. They are great events and the participants are informative and courteous. Something worth checking out this Saturday the 21st.
Speaking of twitter, I had a thought...
It is a twitter wish, not sure it could be done, but it is just a wish.
I think it would be cool to follow concert goers via Twitter.
Of course online access would be needed. But to follow a few of you, after you land, what you are doing the day before, the morning before, the day after, who you ran into...
That could be fun to follow. A page/site dedicated to following 5 people, or...whatever, I really have not given this much thought, I just blurted it out.
Or take my twitter off and put one of yours on here...
There, that was not so bad

Alizee 101 - Happy Accident
Something that comes up now and again is the spelling of the song Veni Vedi Vici.
That song is always at the top of the searches that find this humble site. It somehow has popularity and power that is rarely talked about. I would certainly like to see Alizee reintroduce it. But the question I get is why do I spell it Veni Vidi Vici or that I am spelling it wrong. The controversy is the I or E as the second letter in...the second word shall we say.
Yes, the song spells it VEDI.
I have referenced this song various times in posts.
Here is the post of September 2008
I only use VIDI in my part of the post, I let VEDI stand in any reference that is used.
Again on the post of November 13, 2008
I use VIDI and let all references stand at VEDI.
So why did I choose to post the "I"? One word, marketing.
Wikipedia uses VIDI. Let us just say it is the Anglo version. Here at Alizee Nation I try to introduce as many new fans to Alizee as I can, it is Alizee 101. I use post titles that may pop up on someones search in hopes they stumble across Alizee, creating a Happy Accident. I decided VIDI would attract more Happy Accidents. If the reader wants to move on to more sophisticated sites to find the drummers middle name they may and that would be great. For here, it is a matter of getting Alizee noticed. For example, maybe, just maybe someone just now found this by searching for the movie 'Happy Accident'. Working the six degrees of separation my friend, that's all.
There really is some method to the madness.
So...yes the song is titled Veni Vedi Vici on your cd but I wonder how many became aware of Alizee through the use of Vidi?
Again, why is it VEDI, oh we did not say did we...anybody, anybody...Beuller?

Alizee - MSN Entertainment Poll
This MSN Entertainment Poll is a bit intriguing to me. I participate in polls and such more then most, do my part but not a fanatic about it. This poll has a bit of a twist that caught my attention.
The twist is, it is a percentage poll and you can vote people "out". It is not the number of votes that count. That explains how people shoot up from nowhere and then drop like a rock.
For Example. Person A may have 1000 total votes, 600 'in', 400 'out' for 60%. Person B has only 100 total votes but 65 'in' and 35 'out' for 65% and jumps up the scale. Then some 'out' votes roll in, due to the low total vote count it does not take many votes to influence the percentage and thus drops like a rock.
It falls into that category of the figures don't like but liars can figure. I must assume that they require a minimal amount of total votes to qualify but please, no assume lectures, when you assume you make an ass out of u and me, ass-u-me. Can you imagine having an election where you can vote against someone? and the percentage would win. An interesting twist.
On the voting. Is it real? I am not sure. In the beginning, and that reminds me, when does it end??? In the beginning you could easily change Alizee's percentage. Due to the increasing total for her it is getting harder and harder to move that percentage.
What I have found...I set up a macro (a program that repeats your keystrokes) to vote for Alizee to see what would happen. Yesterday I ran it twice, I would be away from my computer and let it run. It ran twice for 2,000 votes both times. Total of 4,000 votes. Alizee went from 70% to 72%. That is all! Is it counting each vote...I think so. An interesting note in between running the macro. After the first run of 2,000 Alizee went from 70% to 71%, as I was playing around with it, throwing in a couple of manual votes...it dropped back to 70%...what? I quickly started voting thinking it was right on that percentage point and I could quickly get it back. I could not. That seemed a bit odd to me. So knowing I would be off the computer for a while I then set up the second run of 2,000 and it ended up back at 72%.
Some have questioned the validity of the poll, well I have my reservations about it also. Will it be ongoing or have an end date, I could not find that.
But it sure was interesting to me, a poll where you can cast a negative vote and percentage wins. Can you imagine having 60,000 votes and losing to someone that has 6,000 votes. What do I know...but numbers are fun for me.
This weekend is the NBA All Star Game. You could vote for players to start. You could vote early, you could vote often but you could not vote a player out, you could only vote them in.
I wonder if this is a culture difference thing....

C'est pas ma faute
More from "French or foe"
"Blame in France is a hot potato no one wants to catch it, even if justified."
"Foreigners all agree about this: the French are paranoid about accepting it."
"In French, an erreur is a mistake you're not supposed to make, but that you do innocently, if clumsily. A faute is an error you make knowingly. It can be anything from a blunder to a misdemeanor or worse. After Napoleon had the young Duc d'Enghien assassinated Tallyrand said, 'C'est pire qu'un crime, c'est une faute.' (It's worse then a crime, it's une faute)"
So, the song Moi...Lolita had two major themes.
One was the continuation of the ye-ye tradition of young female singers in France. One of the originals, France Gall, labeled by Serge Gainsbourg as the French Lolita.
Second is the phrase "C'est pas ma faute", (it's not my fault). According to Polly Platt, a concept ingrained in French society.
French readers feel free to comment.

Trying to Understand French Culture
In the ongoing effort on my part to understand Alizee I have been reading the book 'French or Foe' by Polly Platt and sharing some parts of the book. Today is honor and doing business in France.
"French people like to deal with people they know."
"Us is only family, close friends, classmates and old faithful customers."
"French people are concerned about personal honor, the honor of France, and the honor of their family and friends and the honor of their long term customers."
"You aren't part of that club. There's no rule of honor, implicit or explicit, that says they have to sell or do any kind of business with you, an unknown foreigner, much less accommodate your outlandish request."
Remember there is no right or wrong in all this, it is all about understanding a different culture.
Perhaps some of the book generalizes too much, but it may have to at times to gain our attention to get us to rethink the situation and realize there maybe more then just a language difference.
And it is my humble opinion that Alizee pulled off the Lolita roll with honor.

Alizee and French culture
French culture has been observed over the years by Polly Platt. Her information has been used by world wide corporations to help personnel adapt to the nuances of French life.
Cultures have different ways to respond to different events. Personal space for example, Americans about a yard of space, Latins half...
There is no right or wrong just differences we should be aware of.
An excerpt from the book 'French or Foe' by Polly Platt regarding time.
Unreported Meeting Changes
"They continually change their meetings - half the time without letting people know!" said Greg McNevin, an agro-chemical engineer with Sandoz. "Drives me crazy"
"For a long time it infuriated me that they would cancel meetings or hold them somewhere else without letting me know" said Chuck Theobald, a systems engineer with Federal Express, "until I realized nobody meant it badly" "after while you get used to it and don't mind it so much"
Madlyn M. was an executive in New York real estate financing...was astonished at the non-synched timing of two executives for a job interview at the BNP, a French bank. "One of them received me on the dot of the appointed meeting" she said "the other kept both of us waiting 40 minutes. He didn't say he was sorry - and didn't give an excuse. And the one that was on time didn't seem at all bothered. It was as if this was all perfectly normal"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cultural differences, not right and wrong. For example what about maintaining a MySpace page? Could a North American view of erratic and not timely updates just be a cultural difference?
Embrace the differences.
Why not make the French language known in the United States? -Alizée
And maybe the French culture too! It's all part of the package called Alizee.

Alizee - On the internet
Today Alizee on the internet takes us to Peru.
This is a forum site and very nice.
There is a page of streaming video!
Shirts for sale.
I notice Latin American fans have no problem having fan events, wearing shirts or hats in public. To wear a shirt with a female singer on it in North America...well, what would you call it? We have issues.
Oh, if only...if only we would have latched on the ideals of our friends and ally, Lafayette and the French. Instead we remained influenced by the Puritans and have been paying for it ever since.
That reminds me, I will share parts of the book "French or Foe" in some posts. It is very interesting.
On to our friends in Peru!

Alizee is like...
Alizee is like a favorite local hardware, computer store or even restaurant. You love it there. They have things you like, the layout is comfortable and you could spend hours there. You like the person or persons that run it, they add the human touch and they do alright making a living. You think to yourself if only they had a better web presence, if only they had another store in the busier area of town or in another town... Look at Home Depot, Best Buy or any major restaurant chain, they are big and have updated web sites and advertise...what if...
Ah, but I like my niche store the way it is. Would I really like a bigger, better (?) homogenized product. It can be a tough go at times surviving as an artist and a fan, it's not for everyone.
Think about it the next time you are in the matrix known as Best Buy or Home Depot. Do we really want 'the one' caught up in all that? Do you want to be caught up in all that?
What do you want? It will be a tough go of it fighting off these corporate machines, sometimes being out there on your own. Some do choose to be re assimilated, others carry on.
What say you?
You take the blue pill and the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and we show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.
Remember -- all we are offering is the truth, nothing more.
It appears the rabbit hole is going through Chile and Argentina and I have this urge to run to my favorite niche computer store. :)

Alizee - 2009
So what did you think of that last article? This is why being an Alizee fan is so interesting.
You are a star and you want to get out news of a new song in Spanish, you want to mention possibilities of visiting other countries and you do it through a newspaper half way around the world.
How about right in the middle of talking about Mexico, Latin America, Chile and Argentina...How many times have you been to Australia? What? Huh?
This is a fun riddle for sure.
Why not release information through more conventional channels?
If you had to pick the next two countries to appear in would it have been Chile and Argentina?
Why this out of place Australia statement? And you have been there 4 or 5 times already, when? What are you trying to tell us?
What I see is that this is going to be normal for Alizee. An official announcement through official channels I will look upon as abnormal.
Countries willing to support her with minimal intrusion on her privacy and minimal paparazzi appear to be the locations of choice. They will allow her to perform and earn a nice living with minimal personal intrusions.
The Australian statement, I have my ideas how about you.
A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE FROM RUROSHEN...
"Australia" is a bogus translation on Google's part--it's actually "Mexico", which makes much more sense in context. edgar93 provides a more accurate translation of the article here at Alizée Forum.

Alizee - News
From El Universal
There is a LOT being said here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spanish song, Chile, Argentina...
Here is the Google translation to English
Ana María Durán Otero
El Universal El Universal

PARIS .- The meeting of the French singer Alizée with Gerardo and Paloma, two of his most ardent fans, who traveled directly from Mexico to know, did not expect. From his studies in Paris, the young singer received with open arms to both Mexican and shared their music with them and some of its secrets. The Universal was present and spoke with the artist.
- As French singer, why you think the Mexicans are so good songs? It is one of the best selling artists in the country. It is one of the best selling artists in the country.
At first, perhaps because the first song I knew well, do not understand what the letter said in French, it was easy to remember. The image I had before also liked a lot.
- Has been difficult to change their image of "Lolita" that everyone knew several years ago and show a more mature stage?
Of course, being a mom after my image has changed, evolved, and I have also grown, I've matured, I want other things. Of course I do not deny that it is very difficult, because this image set to many people.
- How many times have you visited Australia?
Four or five times. Four or five times.
- The image of Mexico that had changed when I first visited?
No, not at all. I knew that people were very cool, descomplicada, friendly and quiet.
- Do you know singers and artists Mexicans?
In France we do not know much Mexican music, but I remember the actress Salma Hayek.
- Will soon visit other countries in Latin America?
Yes, of course it does. My plans are in Argentina and Chile.
- What artist, French or international, would you like to sing?
-There are many artists with whom I'd like to share the stage. First, there is Madonna, and if male, with Justin Timberlake.
When did the remake of the song "Isla Bonita" by Madonna, why he chose that song in particular?
I'm a fan of Madonna since I have four years and is my favorite song. I'm a fan of Madonna since I have four years and is my favorite song. I had recorded that song in France for a television program and was the Mexicans that I met, sharing the video through Youtube.
- Have you thought about singing in Spanish?
Yes, indeed Adanowsky singer (mother Mexican filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky's son) has just composed a song in Spanish that will be released shortly.
-It must be difficult to find a balance between music, travel, her small daughter and her husband. Does do everything? Why do everything?
I have people around me that helps me understand. Everything is a matter of good organization.
Sorry for the Google translation, I hope it works for you.

Alizee - MSN Entertainment Poll
My latest check has Alizee at #5 and at 66%
Now I know in this age of win and everyone else loses, I feel this is impressive. Really! It is MSN France and there has not been a lot going on in France. Les Enfoires, a few television appearances over the last year and that is it and she is sitting at #5, wow, I am surprised. That is all the groups combined, actors, singers... Take a look at who she is ahead of! In the singer category Alizee is currently tied for 2nd.
For example, Alizee is currently ahead of Rihanna.
Rihanna (wikipedia): Rihanna has five Billboard Hot 100 number ones hits both as a lead artist thus far ("SOS", "Umbrella", "Take a Bow", and "Disturbia"), as well as T.I.'s "Live Your Life", on which she is featured. This places her at a tie with fellow Pop/R&B singer Beyoncé as the female solo artist with the most number ones this decade. The Good Girl Gone Bad album has three Billboard Hot 100 number one singles. She has so far sold approximately 11 million albums worldwide.
And current has out "Just A Boy"
What! With all that going on and more how could it even be close. Alizee is just 1% ahead right now but did you even expect that? If this keeps up Alizee will need to stay home more often.
Rumors of an Alizee career death have been greatly exaggerated, to paraphrase a Mark Twain quote.
One odd note about the poll. Not only may you vote for someone, you may vote against someone. I thought that was unusual.
As far as voting goes, it appears to accept multiple votes (hint) cough(macro)
No matter what the final outcome...I am impressed.
