American Music Awards
Tonight 11/23
The American Music Awards show is one of several annual major American music awards shows (among the others are the Billboard Music Awards, the Grammy Awards, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony). The AMA's (in current chronological order, the first of the "Big Three" music awards) were created by Dick Clark in 1973 to compete with the Grammys.
While the Grammys are awarded based on votes by members of the entertainment industry, the AMAs are determined by a poll of music buyers. The "big three" established awards shows (AMAs, Billboard Music Awards, and Grammys) compete for prestige and television ratings, with the Grammys nominally rewarding quality and both the AMAs and Billboard Music Awards rewarding popularity.
The only other major difference between the Grammys and Billboard Music Awards and the AMAs is that the AMAs do not currently have an award for Best Single/Record but the Grammys and Billboard Music Awards do.
Although the American Music Awards is primarily for artists that originate from the United States, international artists like Elton John, Celine Dion, Shania Twain, George Michael, Rihanna, Shakira and the Spice Girls have also won awards on the show.

Well how do we pronounce Alizee?

This is a blatant appeal for a response.
Why are so many of you searching for Alizee, Veni Vidi Vici lyrics?
The searches are specifically including the Alizee's name with Veni Vidi Vici.
It is not an accident, it is not searchers stumbling upon here looking for Julius Caesar or just the saying Veni Vidi Vici.
This morning 4 out of the last 10 visits have been visitors looking for the combination of Alizee and VVV. World wide, no specific area.
I previously posted the lyrics due to the interest.

Alizee to Stephen King
The three major factors with Alizee are:
Music
Looks
Personality
Alizee fans appear to differ by which of the three you list as first. I ask not which of the three received your initial attention, but after that, which of the three keeps you interested in Alizee?
For me it is Personality. Looks and Music are great extras, do not get me wrong, but I just can not wait to see what happens next. The attitude is something I admire as you can notice by my posts. That is why there is no bandwagon for me to jump off of while others admiring more “Looks” and more “Music” grow frustrated.
There is no ‘wrong’ way to be a fan. This is just a notation that there are different types of fans. C’est OK.
Reading various forums I note that there are fans that mention ‘getting to know her’. They refer to her personality, it is good to know I am not alone. I do wonder how aware Alizee is of this, that people do admire her for herself?
There is no doubt that her career started off on “the look” and the music was based on a fabricated persona. It worked. Now in the second part of her career I sometimes wonder if she is actually trying to shed the original fan that was based on that fabricated persona. Does it make her question herself? Was it only the persona that people loved? Now. every appearance is scrutinized, every outfit, every note she sings, every hair on her head…
I had some thoughts bouncing around in my head and had this crazy notion.
You may have noticed some April March videos on the web site. Obviously April March is not her real name. A pseudonym. Of course I would think that was interesting.
Moving some things around I came across some books, the Bachman Books. These were a set of books published by the famous ‘horror’ author Stephen King. He published them under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. Fake photo and all on the book jacket.
King stated that Bachman was an attempt to make sense out of his career and try to answer the question of whether his success was due to talent or luck. He says he deliberately released the Bachman novels with as little marketing presence as possible and did his best to "load the dice against" Bachman. King concludes that he has yet to find an answer to the "talent versus luck" question. The Bachman book Thinner sold 28,000 copies during its initial run--and then ten times as many when it was revealed that Bachman was, in fact, King. (wikipedia)

Growing up surrounded by that history, that environment, being the protege of Mylene, we can get a little insight into Alizee's world.
Alizee is not going to be an open book and it maybe difficult at times to understand her motives. In one of Alizee's early interviews she recalls the time she and her friends heard her music on the radio the first time. She had not even told her friends that she released a single, a 15 year old did not even tell her friends! And we want more. I hope this brings us to a closer understanding of Alizee. To have more insight for what we may expect from her and embrace it as being unique. Her career path may be exactly what she needs, just not always what you want.

Yé-yé was a style of pop music that emerged out of France in the 1960's.
Yé-yé music was unique in a number of ways: first, it was the only musical movement so far to be spearheaded by females; second, it was a mostly European phenomenon.
Yé-yé girls were young and innocent, most of their songs talked of finding the first love. They were also sexy, in a deliberately naïve way. Serge Gainsbourg called France Gall the French Lolita.
The yé-yé movement had its origins in the radio programme "Salut les copains", which was first aired in December 1959. This program became an immediate success and one of its sections ("le chouchou de la semaine" / "this week's sweetheart") turned to be the starting point for most yé-yé singers. Any song that was presented as a chouchou went straight to the first places in the charts.

France Gall: The first airplay of France's first single "Ne sois pas si bête" ("Don't Be So Stupid"), occurred on her 16th birthday. It was released in November and became a hit. Serge Gainsbourg, whose career was faltering although he had released several albums and written songs for singers including Michèle Arnaud and Juliette Gréco, was asked by Bourgeois to write songs for Gall. Gainsbourg's "N'écoute pas les idoles" ("Don't listen to the idols") became Gall's second single; it reached the top of the French charts in March 1964. Gall and Gainsbourg's association produced many popular singles, continuing through the summer of 1964 with the hit song "Laisse tomber les filles" ("Forget the girls"). That takes us to Mylène Farmer, Laurent Boutonnat, Alizée and now Lisa. Mylène and Laurent are definitely in the "Yé-Yé business". I do not hear it related to them but there can be no doubt about it. I am not negative or positive about it, just trying to state the situation. To their credit it appears they made Alizee aware of the situation, double entendre lyrics, Lolita, and the outfits. They also appear to have made it clear to Alizee that it is just an act. If only some of the fans could have realized that. To Alizee's credit it takes a strong personality to play that role. I admire her for that.
As Alizee got older there may have been a difference in an 'exit strategy' from yé-yé to adult star.

Alizee America Podcast
The Alizee America Podcast is a fun, enjoyable English speaking podcast.
I had the opportunity to listen to them again this week and they are very entertaining. When each podcast was first released, there maybe a tendency to look for the latest breaking news...and then we move on. I fell in that category. Well it's time to re-listen for the entertainment value. I enjoyed it all much more the second time around. Ciara, Snatcher42...good job.
The interview with Ruroshen, enjoyable, and it just blew right by me the first time around. Fans do not have to be hysterical idiots, then can be intelligent and well spoken. It takes a certain amount of talent to do a podcast. Well everybody...and don't you just love listening to Alizee shouts 'everybody' in her French accent...listen to them again for the entertainment value and become a subscriber.
By the way I do not know anyone that creates these podcast...my apologies for not having a list of all the people involved.

Yelle is now doing a North American tour as most know. We have mentioned Yelle several times here. Taking a peek I noticed she is playing many smaller venues. Not a bad idea. Again from NME Yelle is asking fans to wear masks and to possibly be in a documentary that is being filmed. That's different.

Alizee and the unconditional fan
The Unconditional Fan.
I do not need Alizee to do anything in exchange for being a fan.
She needs to do this, she needs to do that, frankly it does not bother me.
If she quits, I am still a fan. I enjoy her personality as is.
Some of you do not, I understand. Some of you need her to conduct herself in a manner, it is OK. I do not, you may.
Just a difference between a conditional and an unconditional fan.
Do you recall Alizee after the situation in Mexico? How upset and concerned she was. Can you imagine how she feels now? Do you truly think she is non caring? Let's pile on just like some did in Mexico.
Yes, things could have been done differently. Things have not worked out as well as we all would like to see. Do you need better management to remain a fan? It's OK if you do.
Communication. Alizee has had very limited contact with the public in the past, very limited contact in the present, and will probably have very limited contact in the future. Can you live with that?
We all want more. We can't get enough of Alizee. Some artist can give more, some less. Do you have a minimum requirement to be a fan?
There is some good news. With the high cost of gas it is good to note that the Alizee Bandwagon is getting much better gas mileage with the recent loss of dead weight.

Alizee support group
It appears that I need to start a support group for frustrated Alizee fans.
Make yourself comfortable on my couch.
Now tell me what is the problem as you see it?
'Alizee does not do what I want her to do. She disappears for months at a time. She makes decisions I feel are wrong and I want her to be bigger then she is or wants to be.'
I see, and all this I want and I feel are for HER own good?
'Yes! Exactly'
Expecting people the act this way or that way for you can only lead to disappointment.

I am not a real doctor I only play one on this blog.
It is frustrating on those of us that can't get enough of Alizee. I do understand, I am the one who wrote the post about pushing a rope.
Alizee being Alizee
In American baseball there is a player Manny Ramirez (currently with the Los Angeles Dodgers). Manny does not always conduct himself in a way we would consider normal or average for a baseball player. Manny is...an above average player, he too is a unique. When Manny does what he does it is known as "Manny being Manny".
Possibly the same could be said for European football star Zindane (of head butt fame).
Did you feel the ripple in the force today? No, not the economic melt down of the world, something more important. The ripple in the Alizee force. The announced (now be careful here, we lived through announcements before) postponement of the concert at Le Grand Rex until March. Wow, on one hand and yet not surprising on the other. It is Alizee being Alizee, she is a unique.
I think it is fair to say that Alizee is a bit of a recluse due to the fame and celebrity. Wikipedia has a long list of Famous Recluses. Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson, Sly Stone, Wachowski brothers to name some interesting ones. Read the one regarding Kraftwerk (please no). I think we can add Alizee to that list. That is not a bad thing, it just is.
Now, does any of this have anything to do with the concert, I doubt it. There is the award presentation mentioned, maybe the record company switch, could be the influence of many factors. But, does the lack of information about it have to do with the above, I think so.
Just Alizee being Alizee. Easy for me to say, I did not loose money on airline tickets. But don't you hope that is all it is for Alizee!
A lot of you think there have been some bad decisions lately. Wow, have I made my share of bad decisions. In the mean while keep in mind they may be the best moves for Alizee the person.

According to Billboard the dates for Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival have been confirmed for April 17-19, 2009.
Per Billboard: "Coachella remains the premier American festival event of the year for alternative music lovers. The event has become renowned for reuniting or featuring cult favorite bands that hadn't played in the United States in years, such as Portishead, Rage Against The Machine, Daft Punk and Kraftwerk."

Alizee you have the ability to shape shift into different looks and could absolutely pull that off, except for...Tinkerbell following you around, may have to keep Tink covered. Just can not sneak off to the beach in BIG sunglasses can you.
But what do I, an insignificant rouge Alizee blog, know. Perhaps RCA/Sony/Jive - WHATEVER - contractually does not allow it. I do not care if Alizee wants to stay home 10 out of 12 months for family considerations, still promote her accordingly. This blog would be written differently if Alizee was on the road 10 out of 12 months, but she is not so it is written accordingly. Diamonds are more valuable because they are rare. Granite is not as valuable but can become a fad, trendy or in style. When that fad is over...Yes it would be easy to exploit Alizee by having her be out there, but you do not. So work with what you got record companies. Rouge blogs, websites and forums just can not have more of an impact then the record company. I realize the record companies must be saying it can not be done like this, stop seeing what you believe and become visionaries.
Opppps, insignificant rouge blogger went off a little.
Did I mention the Coachella Fest set the dates for 2009.

Alizee miscellanous
A couple of quick hits of various subjects:
Alizee's calculator watch. Covered this in a previous post. It's the Casio Gold DBC610-GA. A few exclusive ones made, Alizee has one. So unusual a female wearing a calculator watch, on stage and to fashion show no less. Well I caught another female wearing the exact same version, Erin Ryder on the American television show "Destination Truth". I do not have a picture of her wearing it yet. Is there a trend starting here? Would be cool if Alizee started a trend.
By the way a cool thread at Alizee forum: The fashion of Alizee. There are some great contributions in that thread. I will have to re-read that thread again.
What about those shoes Alizee is wearing in the main pic I currently have posted? Does anyone know about them?
Those "Alizee Feet" searches keep coming up. It appears that Alizee could cash in just selling pictures of her feet. I have to admit that one caught me by surprise.
Looking at the visitor map on the left. Red dots starting to show up in South America, very cool.
Steady group in Canada, Turkey, India to mention a few. UK appears to be getting on a little more often.
It appears the streaming video cam from Ajaccio is down. I miss it, I enjoy watching dawn arriving over the Mediterranean. I will start checking it out. I hope it is just a technical difficulty. Another streaming video favorite of mine is of Mykonos, check it out.
