Charts In France has the results for the NRJ Music Awards 2010. This is what we would call main stream.
But now the rest of this I get to write from the stand point as the dumbest person in the room but then don't I always...so where do we start? Alizee has mentioned her desire to stay mainstream...the need to state that I suppose is due to her association with Institubes...and the guys.
The guys...Chateau Marmont, Rob, Para One...you know...Institubes. I find it difficult to define the music coming out of Institubes..is it electronic, dj, trance, dance? Amazon tends to use all of those descriptions. I think the artist themselves do not care to be labeled, they themselves have used underground at times and lately new house sound for some of it.
On the last album Alizee crossed over with some hip hop or rap, that's a fair label for Decollage. Now we can look forward to a few songs with this "_____" sound. I then noticed what I thought was a lack of females in this sound or was it just my ignorance...also was there a lack of voice altogether...so I decided to look and listen.
First I started with Chateau Marmont, why not, they seem to have a large influence or contribution to Une En Enfant Du Siecle. I will use Beagle first.
I like it but what have they done with a female...well here is remix of La Roux
You can here La Roux currently being played on top 40 mainstream with Bulletproof.
That works but what of this lack of females...a search of female electronica came up with this from last.fm...so they do exist.
you can even find female dj's.
The blog dorkmuffin made this compilation of female electronica
On the list is Bjork, Alizee has mentioned her in the past. In the did you know category...did you know Bjork wrote the lyrics for Bedtime Story for Madonna.
So what does female electronica sound like...here is the last song on that list
Emilie Simon - Fleur de Saison
In the comment section on YouTube someone asks "is this the pop french music" and someone responds "yes".
What? After all this... One persons Female Electronica is someones else's French Pop.
So much for labels...

Let's try that again with a functional link...
If you want more "female" electronica, give Belgium's Psy'Aviah and a good part of the rest of the Alfa-Matrix roster, mon ami (this is where I would like to take Alizée the first chance I get, btw).
This is the trailer for Psy'Aviah's new album, due out March 19th (hopefully the same day as Alizée's new album, too) Psy'Aviah - Eclectric - Album Trailer
There we go, thank you for the contribution Lady Cameron XII
